About Us

The New Kensington-Arnold School District was founded in 1965 with the merging of Arnold School District and New Kensington School District.

Our district comprises 3.5 square miles in northwestern Westmoreland County. It is bound by the Allegheny River on the west and north, and the communities of Plum and Lower Burrell to the east and south respectively. The communities of Arnold and New Kensington were first established in the late 1800s and have since gone through substantial growth and change with regard to population, business, and industry.

Our three elementary schools, Martin, H.D. Berkey, and Roy A. Hunt as well as Valley Junior-Senior High School have all undergone renovations within the past 15 years and it is one of our goals to provide exceptional facilities for our students. Our main campus boasts modern tennis courts and track and field facilities. Memorial Stadium has a multi-sport, artificial surface, and is adjacent to a field house that includes facilities for weight training, wrestling, batting cages, meeting rooms, and athletic training. The building also houses the District's Administrative Offices.  VJSHS has a 1,200 seat auditorium with an updated sound and lighting system that makes for spectacular presentations and events.
