On Tuesday, March 18th twenty students from Valley Middle School competed in the Westmoreland Interscholastic Reading Competition (WIRC), held at Seton Hill College in Greensburg. The students formed two teams, the Chapter Champions and The Readers. They competed against 41 other teams from over twenty schools in Westmoreland County.

The Chapter Champions won 5th place overall and posted high scores in each of the three rounds of competition. At the award ceremony, each member of the Chapter Champions received a ribbon. A fifth place ribbon was also awarded to Valley Middle School to honor the team's outstanding achievement.

Congratulations to both teams!

Congratulations to Savannah Owen and Tarashae Butler for winning Hightower Early Success Scholarships!

To achieve this prominent honor, both students wrote an essay about the current political campaigns and created a presentation for the High Tower Committee members. Savannah and Tarashae will be honored May 10 at Hillcrest Country Club.
