AK Valley Marching Band Festival - Tuesday, September 17th

The AK Valley Marching Festival will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at Valley's Memorial Stadium. There will be 11 school districts participating, and over 894 musicians. Tickets are $5 at the door. It's a wonderful night that benefits the Valley Band Boosters trip to march at Dollywood. There will be auction baskets, candy grams, and you can do a shout out for $2.00. There will also be concession stands and T-shirts for sale. Doors open at 6:15 p.m., band performances start at 7:00 p.m. The rain date is September 18th.

Valley Vikings Education Foundation

The Valley Vikings Education Foundation is a non-profit group that will be working to provide student scholarships, teacher grants, assemblies and other opportunities for the New Kensington-Arnold School District and community. This group is made up of local representatives from the district, community, and alumni of Valley. If you are interested in being a part of this new initiative, please let us know! You will find more information on the attached flyer. Our next meeting will be Monday, September 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room if anyone is interested in joining us! We need more members to help get this initiative going!
Homecoming

Homecoming Dance - Saturday, October 5, 2024

The Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Quality Inn. Tickets are $25 and they are on sale now in the Library during Homeroom and Lunch. The last day to purchase tickets is Friday, September 27th.

Ipad Insurance

The New Kensington-Arnold School District is offering insurance on iPads issued to students. Enjoy peace of mind knowing you’re covered! The cost is $20.00/Year and/or incident. Over the last few years, purchase of insurance has saved NKASD families over $14,000 on iPad repairs. Insurance includes: One accidental damage repair and replacement incident. Intentional damage, is NOT covered. We will replace a damaged brick or cable if you return it to us. Policy MUST be purchased within 30 days of device being issued and prior to the device experiencing a failure, damage or loss. If device is damaged before insurance policy is purchased, device is NOT eligible for coverage. If you have questions, please call the school office where your student attends. Click the title above to print the Insurance Form. Place in a sealed envelope with payment, and turn it in to your child's teacher or school office. Only cash or money order will be accepted.

Yearbook Information For Class of 2025

Senior pictures and Senior Quotes for the yearbook are due to be turned in to Mr. Fry before Christmas Break. You can send the picture on Teams Chat or by email to [email protected]. If you are using a school portrait from Lifetouch instead of turning in your own (Picture Day is October 16th), send a message to Mr. Fry. You must get your picture taken for Skyward and for Student ID. Yearbooks and Senior Recognition Pages are now on sale on yearbookforever.com.
Willie

Willie Thrower Essay Contest

Peoples Library and the Willie Thrower Award Foundation are hosting an essay contest for students in grades 3-8 enrolled in the New Kensington-Arnold and Burrell School Districts, honoring trailblazing quarterback and New Kensington native, Willie Thrower.

The deadline to turn in completed essays to your Teacher is Monday, September 30, 2024. Six winners will be selected, one each from grades 3 & 4, grades 5 & 6, and grades 7 & 8 at each school district. The winners will be notified directly. Each winner will receive a gift and be invited to read their winning essay at Peoples Library, New Kensington on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 1pm.
