HDB One School, One Book Event
Hello H. D. Berkey Families!
We are excited to announce our school’s participation in reading Fenway and the Bone Thieves by Victoria J. Coe. We are encouraging our entire school to read one book together over a 3-week period. There are so many proven benefits of reading to and with your child and we hope to bring the joy of reading into your home. This book is a short chapter book and we are asking that you read approximately 3-4 chapters per week. Each chapter takes approximately 5-10 minutes to read. The book is intended to be read to and/or with students. Our intention is for this to be a time to connect with your child through literacy.
All of our children will receive a FREE copy of this book on Monday, February 5, 2024. Please do your best to adhere to the schedule, as our classroom teachers will engage in discussions and activities pertaining to this book. We will also have an opportunity for students to view/listen to school community members read these chapters during the school day in the event you are unable to read every chapter using the link https://bit.ly/3oPVWoQ or the QR Code below. These links will be live February 2, 2024.
At the end of each week, we will provide a link for a Microsoft Form that includes a question and an engaging activity related to the book. These are optional activities and not required. Students that submit pictures and responses will be put into a drawing to receive prizes! We may digitally display some of the completed activities for the school community to view! We hope you enjoy this book as much as we do!
